New features, colors, bundles, games coming to Nintendo 3DS

As Nintendo prepares for its first holiday season with the Nintendo 3DS, it's apparent they're giving it a lot of push after some sharp criticisms. For this holiday, we're getting a system update, bundles, and some new games both large and small.

First, is an announced system update happening in November. With this update brings eShop improvements and an ability for developers to have DLC (downloadable content) for games (finally). Also mentioned were game demos and an ability to silently download things in a queue while your 3DS is in sleep mode. In the US, the update will also include Hulu Plus (for subscribers), but at a later date. 3D Video recording, stop-motion animation, new StreetPass Mii Plaza hats and features, and the ability to transfer data/games from one 3DS to another are also going to be included in the update.

It was also mentioned that they are planning to have a full web-based version of the eShop in the future so you can purchase games through your PC or smartphone

If you live in Europe, there are some new bundles and colors heading your way! An Ice White bundle with Super Mario 3D Land and a Coral Pink bundle with Nintendogs + Cats. Not bad, eh? Now if only we can get these colors in North America....

Nintendo of America also announced plans for some new eShop games including Pushmo, a platformer made with 3D in mind, Dillon's Rolling Western (shown last E3), and Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!, a new game where what you draw comes to life as you take them through levels. Also coming is Swapnote, a unique messaging service for StreetPass and SpotPass for sending thing to your friends.

And don't forget, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 releases are just around the corner. Mario Kart 7 is looking to be jam-packed with features, multiplayer options, and StreetPass content, and 3D Land is shaping up equally well. I'm thinking it's a good time to be a 3DS ownder, and if you're not, well, I'd say wait on one of these awesome bundles if you want to be one.
